Initially announced in 2008 by Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue, the National Health Museum seeks to promote healthy activities and develop literacy about health among Americans. To those ends, the National Health Museum in Atlanta will offer both a visitor center called the Experience Museum as well as a digital hub called the Cyber Museum that will serve the global community. In March 2014, chairman of the museum Dr. Louis W. Sullivan announced that fund raising will increase during the year for the project, which is still in its early stages.
The Experience Museum, which will be located at Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta, will lead visitors through experiences related to the human body and to healthy living.
