The El-Hibri Charitable Foundation has been a leader in creating dialogue and understanding between Muslims, Christians, and Jews. To this end, the organization has hosted several Interfaith dinners that have intersected with the Muslim holiday of Ramadan and the Ninth of Av, a day in which Jews remember the suffering they have endured through the years. One of these dinners was held in Washington, D.C., in 2013 and featured His Eminence Cardinal Theodore McCarrick as the keynote speaker.
H.E. Cardinal McCarrick spent five years serving in the Archdiocese of Washington in the early 2000s. In his comments, he noted that more than half the world either identifies as Christian or Muslim. In order to have peace, these two groups must not only come to understand one another, but also learn how to appreciate each other as human beings and people of faith. The Foundation’s leadership echoes these sentiments.
