The El-Hibri Foundation promotes peace and respect for diversity, supporting an inclusive America. Every year, the foundation holds a Peace Awards Ceremony in Washington DC, where it recognizes community leaders working toward its mission of inclusivity and collaboration. One of the awards it gives is the El-Hibri Fearless Ally Award.
The foundation awards the Fearless Ally Award annually to people who advance the wellness of American Muslims by courageously tackling Islamophobia, using their power to foster inclusion, and enhancing mutual respect and understanding between communities. Every year, it announces a call for nominations, after which people can nominate individuals working to facilitate the inclusion of American Muslims.
Afterward, an award selection committee, which includes experts from the American Muslim community, vets the nominees and ranks them. They rank highly nominees who: demonstrate a commitment to ending Islamophobia, especially in the face of considerable risk; raise awareness of the rights and needs of American Muslims, and build partnerships as the foundation for collective action.
Once the committee selects its finalists, it may conduct interviews with individuals familiar with the nominees to evaluate their unique contributions. Finally, it will select the winners awarded at the foundation’s Peace Award Ceremony. Winners of this award receive a $10,000 cash prize.
